Historique :	Sculptée par Pierre-François Le Roy, originaire de Namur, cette statue, qui représente la Religion fut placée sur le portail de la cathédrale de Metz vers 1768 avec son pendant La France. Après la destruction du portail en 1898, les statues furent déplacées et installées sur les façades de la basilique Notre-Dame du Bonsecours (pour la France) et de l'église Saint-Nabord (pour la Religion).

Précision_sur la representation :	Vêtue d'une longue robe recouverte par un manteau l'enveloppant entièrement, y compris la tête, le personnage tient dans son bras gauche une grande croix nue posée à terre. La main droite levée, l'index tendu, fait entrevoir la manche de la robe abondamment plissée. Le voile passé sur la tête laisse entrevoir deux mèches de cheveux coiffés de part et d'autre d'une raie centrale.
