Précision_sur la representation :	Le groupe présente la Vierge assise, la tête droite, l'ovale du visage s'inscrivant entre le voile et une haute guimpe, le regard perdu sous les yeux mi-clos. Le Christ est assis sur les genoux de sa mère dont le bras droit, la main ouverte tendue en avant, retient le cadavre affaissé. La main gauche, échappée des plis d'un large manteau s'écrasant par terre, soutient, en position horizontale, le bras gauche légèrement ployé du supplicié. Le bras droit de ce dernier retombe presque à la verticale. Le visage empreint de sérénité apparaît de face, encadré d'une barbe courte, enveloppé dans les mèches raidies d'une épaisse chevelure descendant sur l'épaule. L'anatomie du corps est indiquée discrètement.
