Précision_sur la representation :	Bien qu'une flèche se soit déjà fichée dans la poitrine du martyr, celui-ci se présente encore avec toute sa vigueur juvénile. L'expression du visage, légèrement incliné vers la droite et en avant, est celle de la résignation sereine, non pas de la douleur. Le saint est debout, adossé contre la souche d'un arbre mort. Le corps dénudé n'est revêtu que d'un pagne aux extrémités tombantes, noué autour des hanches. Le bras gauche, levé à hauteur de l'épaule, est tiré en arrière par un lien qui, serré autour du poignet, attache l'avant-bras ployé à une branche. Le bras droit tombe verticalement : une cordelette entoure le poignet et le fixe au tronc d'arbre. La jambe droite, sur laquelle repose le poids du corps faiblement déhanché, est liée au niveau de la cheville par une corde qui s'enroule autour du pied de l'arbre. La jambe gauche, libre de toute entrave, est rejetée en arrière, le genou légèrement ployé. (Eugène Voltz, Conservateur des Antiquités et des Objets d'Art, 1981).
