Précision_sur la representation :	Le Christ est directement cloué à la croix, sans l'intermédiaire du suppedaneum, les deux pieds croisés n'étant fixés que par un clou. La tête n'est que légèrement fléchie vers l'épaule droite sur laquelle tombent les cheveux en longues mèches. Le corps reste rigoureusement vertical. Les bras tirés se raprochent de l'horizontal. Les mains sont ouvertes. L'anatomie est discrète mais expressive. Les yeux sont encore entrouverts. Une barbe courte, rejointe par les moustaches, encadre le visage. Le perizonium est noué sur la hanche droite. (Eugène Voltz, membre correspondant de la Commission supérieure des Monuments Historiques, 1983).
