Historique :	Tympan roman de l'ancienne église abbatiale cistercienne de Sturzelbronn. Le tympan surmontait une porte ayant donné accès au croisillon Nord de l'abbatiale et dont la démolition raya du sol, en 1961, les derniers vestiges subsistant de l'église du monastère cistercien fondé en 1135 par le duc de Lorraine Simon 1er. Après une histoire très mouvementée marquée par des pillages, des ruines et de reconstructions successives, l'établissement disparut définitivement au moment de la Révolution. Selon Kaiser, le tympan aurait à son origine orné le portail principal de l'abbatiale.
